How the API maps to turn-based play

• Persistent game state — the board, hands, discard piles and turn pointer live in room custom data. Games survive app restarts and players picking up days later.
• Turn order — room membership is ordered; advance the current-player pointer in state and every client reads whose move it is.
• Challenge friends — friends lists plus room invites replace a matchmaking queue for games people play with people they know.
• Move notifications — pushes arrive over the realtime channel; online players see moves instantly, offline ones read state on return.
• Ratings — leaderboard and stats endpoints track ELO-style ratings or win streaks across matches.
